The World is Full of Irony, Sometimes You Just Have to Look for it.

I love finding irony in the world, especially when it is usually overlooked by many people. For example, the other day I was in the car with my family in the drive-thru at McDonald’s. Now, I do not eat fast food often, and if I do it is usually at 2:30 in the morning when I’m so drunk and hungry that I don’t care what I eat as long as it is greasy and filling. However, it was ten o’clock at night, and my little brother had just gotten done playing a football game. He hadn’t had any dinner that night, as he had to be at the field at five o’clock, so on our way home we stopped to get him some food. When we pulled up, there was already a car in line placing an order, we followed it around to the window. As the driver waited for her food, I noticed she had a license plate frame with a “clever” saying on it.

The license plate read: “The #1 Question: Is It Good For The Children?”

I couldn’t help but laugh at this ironic situation. Here is an overweight woman (I am not stereotyping, I could see her through the window). probably buying McDonalds for herself, and possibly her family. I assume she has children, because only parents would put that kind of license plate frame on their car; and since she was handed a few bags through the window, I am also assuming they were not all for her. How can she be sitting in line at MCDONALD’S of all places asking the number one question: “is it good for the children?”.

No, McDonald’s is NOT good for your children. As a matter of fact, it is one of the worst things you could feed your child. If people are so ready to put bumper stickers or license plate frames on their cars, and wear t-shirts with catchy slogans about how they are model citizens, it would be nice to see them actually live up to the standards they set for the rest of society.

People REALLY Piss Me Off Sometimes

I cannot believe the people in our society today. Everyone is sue-happy, and want to place blame on the easiest, most convenient person around. People can’t accept that sometimes life just sucks, and you get over it. Like spilling hot coffee on yourself after ordering it from McDonalds—why would someone sue McDonalds for their clumsiness….because they can. That’s why.

I’m now in quite the situation because someone is accusing me of hitting their car while they were parked in the parking lot at my work. I got a letter from AAA today saying I was being accused for hitting a parked car and needed to give my insurance information immediately so that action could be taken. I didn’t hit the car, I would never hit a car and keep going, but the blame needed to be placed on someone, and I guess I was the unlucky person that looked easy enough to blame it on.

Is it because I’m a female? Or is it because I’m young and look naïve? Or maybe it was the fact that I was the first person to walk to a silver car and get in. I have no idea. All I know now is that I have to deal with some “jerk” (trying to keep the blog clean for grading purposes) because he couldn’t handle having a couple tiny scratches on his car, that probably wiped off anyways.

An Insane Night in Buffalo

If you didn't catch Monday Night Football last night, I truly feel sorry for you. The game was the craziest, most intense football game I have ever seen in my life--we're talking about 10 years of watching the NFL.

The last time the Buffalo Bills hosted a Monday Night Football game was in 1994, 13 years ago! This was finally their year, and who comes to town? None other than the undefeated, arguably best playing team in the league, the Dallas Cowboys. The Buffalo Bills have gotten off to a rough start this season winning only one of their four games. They were planning to get killed, maybe even shut out, but they went on their home field with their heads held high....and actually held the game in their hands for all four quarters.

Tony Romo threw FIVE interceptions, two of which were ran back for touchdowns. The Bills even ran a punt back for a touchdown as well. The Bills were up 24-16 in the fourth quarter when Tony Romo took the Cowboys all the way down the field to score a touchdown. With 20 seconds left on the game clock the Cowboys went for a two-point conversion that would tie the game at 24. The Bills' defense was impeccable, and Terrell Owens was unable to make the catch. The Cowboys had one more chance: an onside kick. The onside kick was great, the Cowboys recover it, and have 13 seconds to get into field goal range. T.O. drops another catch, which means the Cowboys have less than 10 seconds left. Tony Romo throws two more short passes to get their kicker, Folk, as close as possible. With two seconds remaining, Folk comes out to make a career long 52 yard field goal-his previous career long was only from 47 yards.

Folk makes the field goal, the Cowboys go crazy, but wait--Bills' coach Dick Jauron called a timeout right before the snap, so the kick was no good. After the timeout, Folk comes out to attempt the field goal again. Impossible right? Wrong! Folk makes the 52-yarder and the Cowboys win the game!

Unbelievable.
